Yes!! You need a bite!
India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history. It’s the land of diversity as in culture, food, and living in the last blog I acquainted you with one of the most beautiful monument in India. But the reason to visit India is not the just the monuments and forts but a lot more one of which includes the food!!!!. As I’m originally from India there is nothing that I crave for than Indian snacks. Although I’m from the northern part I’m fond of much more than that.
My favourites include a variety from different regions.
The first one being
Golgappa/ pani puri
This is a very popular street snack throughout India you will find it in every street snack stall in northern and western parts of the country. Basically, it consists of a round, hollow fried crisp and filled with a mixture of flavored water which has tamarind chutney, chili, chaat masala potato, onion and chickpeas. I love it when it’s spicy, it small enough to fit into your mouth. Once, you eat it I promise you’ll get addicted to the crunch and the spice.
Chole bhature
It is not a snack but a proper heavy breakfast meal, in Punjab and North West regions it is made as weekend breakfast, often served with lassi. Chole bhature are served with onions carrot pickles, green chutney and achar.
Dhokla
It is a dish that can be eaten as a snack, breakfast, main course or side dish. It originates from the western part of India, from the state of Gujarat. It is made with a fermented batter derived from rice and chickpeas. It’s light and healthy, and ofcourse yummy as its from India. Haha !!
Ras malai.
After all the snacks and meals comes a sweet dish that you should definitely have a bite of. It is from the state of west Bengal, although it’s also enjoyed in Bangladesh and Pakistan as well. Ras malai basically consists of soft paneer balls (cottage cheese) soaked in cream flavored with cardamom.
